One Tub a Month

Every month we refinish one bathtub free of charge for a Bay Area household or facility that cannot afford it. Know someone who needs this? Nominate them in two minutes.

How it works

A worn, stained or chipped bathtub makes a home feel broken. Replacing one costs thousands. We can make it look new in a single visit, and once a month we do it for someone who could not otherwise pay for it.

1

Nominate

Fill in the short form below. Anyone can nominate: a neighbor, a social worker, a landlord, a pastor, a family member, or you for yourself.

2

We choose on the 1st

Nominations stay open all month. On the first of the next month our team reads every one, picks one, and calls both of you to schedule. The rest stay in the pool for future months.

3

Done in a day

Our crew refinishes the tub, labor and materials free, with the same 5-year warranty our paying customers get. With permission we share the story here and on our pages.

Who qualifies

Anyone in the Bay Area for whom a $600 to $1,000 repair is out of reach. For example:

  • Low-income households and seniors on a fixed income
  • Families in transitional, subsidized or supportive housing
  • Shelters, group homes, recovery houses and respite homes
  • Community centers, churches and small nonprofits with a bathroom their visitors use
  • Anyone whose tub is chipped, rusted, stained or peeling and cannot afford to fix it

What we can and cannot do

Refinishing restores the surface of a tub, shower or sink that is structurally sound.

  • Bathtub refinishing in white, including chip, rust and crack repair
  • Tile surround or shower pan with the tub when it makes sense
  • Bay Area homes and facilities we can reach from Palo Alto or Campbell
  • Tub replacement, plumbing, leaks, or tile and drywall work
  • Properties outside the Bay Area (Seattle friends: ask us anyway)

Nominate someone

Two minutes. We read every nomination on the first of the month.
