Our Bathtub Refinishing Process
See exactly how we transform worn, damaged bathtubs into like-new fixtures. Our 7-step process ensures a durable, beautiful finish that lasts 10-15+ years.
Why Process Matters
The difference between a refinishing job that lasts 2 years and one that lasts 15 years comes down to process. Cheap refinishers skip steps, use inferior materials, or rush through preparation. The result? Peeling, bubbling, and disappointed customers.
Our process was developed over years of experience. Every step has a purpose, and we never cut corners — because your satisfaction (and our reputation) depends on it.
Total time: 3-4 hours on-site + 24-48 hours cure time. Most customers can use their tub within 24 hours for light use, 48 hours for full use.
The 7-Step Process
Deep Cleaning & Degreasing
We start by thoroughly cleaning the surface with industrial-strength degreasers. This removes soap scum, body oils, mineral deposits, and any contaminants that could prevent proper adhesion. We pay special attention to the drain area and any textured surfaces.
Chip & Crack Repair
Any chips, cracks, or damaged areas are filled with specialized repair compound. We sand these repairs smooth and level with the surrounding surface. This step is crucial — repairs done properly are invisible in the final finish.
Surface Etching
We apply an etching solution that creates microscopic pores in the surface. This is what allows the new coating to chemically bond with the original material — not just sit on top of it. This step is often skipped by cheap refinishers, leading to peeling. refinishing cost
Thorough Rinsing & Drying
All residue from cleaning and etching is thoroughly rinsed away. The surface is then dried completely. Any moisture trapped under the coating will cause bubbling and failure — so we take our time here.
Masking & Protection
We carefully mask off surrounding areas — walls, floors, fixtures, and drain hardware. Professional masking ensures clean, sharp lines and protects your bathroom from overspray. We set up ventilation equipment at this stage.
Primer Application
A specialized bonding primer is applied to create the foundation for the topcoat. This primer is formulated specifically for non-porous surfaces like porcelain and fiberglass. It provides the critical adhesion layer that makes the finish durable. before and after gallery
Industrial 2-Part Epoxy Coating
The final step: we apply our industrial-grade 2-part epoxy in multiple thin coats. This isn't hardware store spray paint — it's a professional coating that creates a hard, glossy, chemical-resistant surface. Multiple thin coats (rather than one thick coat) ensure even coverage and proper curing.
What Happens After
Cure Time: 24-48 Hours
The coating needs time to fully harden. Light use (hand washing) is fine after 24 hours. Full use (showers, baths) after 48 hours. Avoid placing heavy objects on the surface for 72 hours.
Ventilation
Keep the bathroom ventilated during curing. Open windows or run the exhaust fan. Any residual odor will dissipate within 24-48 hours.
Long-Term Care
Clean with non-abrasive cleaners (no Comet, no scrub pads). Avoid leaving shampoo bottles sitting in one spot. With proper care, your refinished surface will look great for 10-15+ years.
Why Our Process Works
The details that make the difference
Industrial Coatings
Professional-grade 2-part epoxy, not consumer spray paint.
Chemical Bonding
Surface etching creates a permanent bond, not just surface adhesion.
Proper Prep Time
We never rush. Each step gets the time it needs.
